What you will find on your child’s Schooltool account:
- Student’s first and last name
- Student’s ID #
- Home address
- Home phone number-please note that if you do not list a home phone # it will default to parent’s cell #
- Parent/Guardian name(s), address and phone numbers provided
- Emergency contact name and phone #. Please provide at least one but no more than three contacts (NOT including the parent/guardians) If your family has a private day care provider, they must be listed as one of the emergency contacts. Please keep in mind that your emergency contacts may be called in the event of an emergency and the parent/guardian is unavailable. Out of state contacts are unable to be included.
- Primary household, mailings, pick up permissions & custody issues are also noted on your child’s account using the following symbols:

- Your child’s schedule
- Attendance record
- Discipline record
- Grades
- Assessments
- Assignments (Grades 6-12)
- Letters, if applicable, that have been sent home
*For SchoolTool purposes, there can only be one parent listed as “Primary”
It is imperative that all information is correct, and up to date. This is how your child’s building will contact you.
On the District website, www.saratogaschools.org, you will click on the “PARENTS” tab, then scroll down to select SchoolTool. You will be brought to the SchoolTool Log In…

Enter your login information and password that was provided to you. After you have logged in you will have a chance to create your own password…

You will also be able to see your log in record…

Once you have logged in your child(ren) will appear …


On this profile you can see who is listed as the “Primary” and any emergency contacts. In this case, Scrooge McDuck & Magika DiSpel are the guardians and Donald and Daisy Duck are the Uncle and Aunt of the student. (Note: the “PH” refers to “in the household” & “NH” refers to “not in the household”)
Based on the symbols on the far right of the screen, we see that Uncle Scrooge is primary and has the parent portal account. Magika is also in the household and both she and Scrooge receive mail & have pick up rights while Donald and Daisy only have pick up rights.

Once you are on your child’s profile page you can review their schedule ( 6th-12th grade), attendance, discipline record, grades, assessments (state testing, etc.), assignments (6th-12th grade) and letters, if any, that have been sent home. Simply click on the tab to open

The (?) symbol under each tab will bring you to the help menu.
Now, back to your (parent) home page. You will notice that there are tabs to the right of the page which when selected will bring you to a new tab with information. For example, under the “Campus” tab you will see this message.

Any messages sent through SchoolTool will be under the message tab.
Directly below the “My Home” tab you will see a tab labeled “Preferences”. On this page you can select the school year that you want to view, this will be helpful as your child grows and you can go back to previous years to look at grades, etc. You can also change the background color & navigation bar

Back up to the top of the parent portal you have a “Scheduling” tab- this is where parents of middle school and high school students can look through and help select classes that their child is interested in taking

Next is the “Help” tab, this is a very informative page, offering help with the basics of SchoolTool.

Things to remember:
- The Parent Portal activation is a one- time event. Once you have a parent portal it is active for the duration of your child’s enrollment in the Saratoga Springs City School District
- Parent Portal account creation is an ongoing process. We ask for your patience as we diligently work toward getting accounts established
- If you have children in more than one building, you only need to place a request from one school
- Please notify the District immediately if your information changes
