1. Log in and start a lesson
- Go to nearpod.com and log in.
- Click Create or My Lessons → Create Lesson (or open an existing lesson to edit).

2. Add a video
Choose one of these options:

- Add Slide → Video → select from Nearpod’s video library
- Add Slide → Video → Upload your own video
- Add Slide → Video → paste a YouTube link
The video will appear as a slide in your lesson.

3. Turn it into an Active Video
- Click Edit on the video slide.
- Select Add Activity (or Add Questions) on the video timeline.

4. Insert interactive checkpoints
Pause the video at specific timestamps and add:
- Multiple Choice
- Open‑Ended questions
- Polls
- Draw‑It activities
- Time to Think prompts
These activities will appear automatically while students watch the video.

5. Customize settings
- Decide if students must respond before moving forward.
- Reorder or edit questions directly on the video timeline.
- Preview the video to ensure activities appear at the right moments.
6. Save and deliver the lesson
Click Save, then choose how students will access it:
- Live Participation – teacher controls pacing
- Student‑Paced – students watch and respond independently
7. Review student data
After or during the lesson:
- View real‑time responses during live sessions
- Review reports showing student answers and understanding
- Use data to reteach, discuss, or provide feedback
Tips for Effective Active Videos
- Add questions every 1–3 minutes to maintain engagement
- Use open‑ended questions for deeper thinking
- Place a checkpoint right after key concepts
- Keep videos short (5–10 minutes works best)
