  • To launch a Nearpod in Live Participation mode, follow these steps:
  • Select the Lesson: Log in to your Nearpod account and go to your “My Library” page.
  • Choose the Mode: Hover your mouse or trackpad over the lesson thumbnail you want to teach. Three mode options will appear; select Live Participation.
  • Share the Join Code: A unique 5-character join code and a link will be generated. Share this with your students:
    • Direct Code: Students can enter the code at nearpod.com/student or join.nearpod.com.
    • Direct Link: Copy the link and share it via email, Microsoft Teams, or Google Classroom.
  • Begin Teaching: Once students have joined, use the blue arrows on the sides of your screen to control the slide progression on their devices.
  • Key Features of Live Mode
  • Teacher Control: In Live Participation, the teacher controls the pace. When you move to a new slide, it automatically updates on all student devices, preventing them from moving ahead or lagging behind.
  • Add Activities “On the Fly”: You can add activities like a Draw It, Open-Ended Question, or a Whiteboard during the live session by clicking the “+Add Activity” button in the top right corner.
  • Live Annotation: You can draw, highlight, or type over your slides in real-time for students to see.
  • Switch to Student-Paced: If you want students to complete a portion independently, you can toggle “Student-Paced” mode on from the bottom right of your teacher dashboard and then turn it off to bring everyone back to your current slide.
