**The following information provides answers to commonly asked questions regarding Multi-Factor Authentication.
Q. What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
A. MFA is an authentication method that requires more than one verification method to sign into the Office 365 Portal. The district has enabled MFA on your Office 365 account for this purpose. MFA is Microsoft’s two-step verification solution.
Q. How does MFA impact my access to Office 365?
A. Once MFA is activated for your Office 365 account, you need to sign into your Office 365 Portal and set up the verification method. This process only needs to be performed one time during setup.
Q. What verification method should I be using?
A. The verification method Microsoft and the district recommend is the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app. Once you have set up your authenticator app, you must enter the verification code in addition to your username and password.
Q. How do I set up my school account for the verification method I choose?
A. Please use the SSCSD Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Process documentation provided by the SSCSD IT Department.
Q. What if cellular service reception is poor or not available?
A. Cell phones can be connected to the BlueStreak-BYOD Wi-Fi Network for access to the internet.
Q. Is my personal cell Phone subjected to a FOIL request?
A. No, your personal cell phone will not be subjected to a FOIL request.
Q. What happens if I forget my cell phone?
A. Please contact the IT department to gain temporary access to your network resources.
Q. Where do I find the Microsoft Authenticator app for downloading.
A. The Microsoft Authenticator app can be found in the Google Play Store for Android or the Apple Store for iPhone users.
Q. Why am I being required to setup Multifactor authentication.
A. Multifactor authentication significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access to systems and your data, even if a password is compromised. In addition, insurance agencies are requiring organizations to implement multifactor authentication to carry cyber security insurance.
